RAP SHEET 8/25/24

Series: Pursuit

Sermon: Pursuit Requires Investment

Scripture: Philippians 4:2-9

REVIEW:

In the final message of our series "Pursuit: From Trivial to Intentional," we explored the last key to pursuing the life God created us to live: Investment. Paul wraps up his letter to the Philippians by expressing his gratitude for their generous support, but he emphasizes that his contentment isn’t dependent on their gifts—he has learned the secret to being content in any circumstance: trusting in Christ’s strength. Paul highlights that true investment goes beyond the material; it’s about the spiritual profit that accrues to our account when we invest in God’s kingdom.

We learned that scripture teaches us that giving should be done first, sacrificially, and automatically, reflecting our trust in God to provide for all our needs. This proper perspective on generosity allows us to live a life of purpose rather than triviality as we invest in what truly matters—God’s work on earth.

APPLY:

  1. Evaluate Your Investments: Where are you currently investing your time, energy, and resources? Are you prioritizing what truly matters in light of eternity?

  2. Contentment Check: Do you find contentment in your current circumstances, or are you constantly striving for more? How can you trust more in Christ’s provision and strength?

  3. Generosity Assessment: Are you giving to God’s work with a heart of gratitude? Consider how you can give first, sacrificially, and automatically to support the mission of the church.

PRAY:

Lord, help me to find contentment in every circumstance by trusting in Your strength. Guide me to invest my time, energy, and resources in what truly matters—Your kingdom. Teach me to give with a heart full of gratitude and to trust in Your provision. May my life reflect a pursuit of purpose rather than trivial pursuits. Amen.
