REVIEW
This week, we looked at Christmas Past and reflected on the promises and prophecies that set the stage for the first Christmas. Just as Ebenezer Scrooge needed to understand his past to move forward in A Christmas Carol, we explored how understanding the history of God’s promises helps us see His faithfulness.
The Christmas story didn’t begin in Bethlehem; it started in the Garden of Eden when God promised to send someone to crush the head of the serpent and redeem humanity from sin. We saw how God worked throughout history to fulfill that promise, even during periods of silence like the 400 years between the Old and New Testaments.
Jesus came at the perfect time—what scripture calls the fullness of time—bringing hope not just as an idea but as a person. God’s faithfulness through history reminds us that He never forgets His promises, which gives us confidence even in our own seasons of silence.
APPLY
Reflect on Past Hope: When is a time that God was faithful to you, even though you couldn't see it at the time?
Cling to God’s Promises: How does realizing that Jesus showed up after 400 years of silence give you a new perspective on your own seasons of hardship?
Focus on Jesus: What is one way you will focus intentionally on Jesus during this season?
PRAY
Thank God for being faithful to His promises, even in seasons of silence.
Ask God for renewed hope in the areas of your life where you feel stuck or disheartened.
Pray that your focus remains on Jesus, the source of true hope and joy.
