Series: Overflow
Sermon: Seeds of Sacrifice
Scripture: Luke 6:38, 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
Review
This week in our Overflow series, we continued exploring the principle of Spiritual Reciprocity—how our generosity expands our capacity to receive God's blessings. Jesus’ teaching in Luke 6:38 promises that as we give, it will be returned to us in overflowing measures, both in this life and in eternity.
We examined Paul’s encouragement in 2 Corinthians 9:6-8. He used the analogy of planting seeds to show that those who sow generously will also reap generously. God is able to bless us abundantly, giving us all we need to excel in every good work. This isn’t about wealth but about living an enriched life of purpose and impact.
Through this message, we addressed two significant obstacles to generosity:
The Desire to Be Rich: The world's pull toward wealth, status, and possessions often distracts us from living generously.
The Problem of Priorities: Without margin in our finances, we struggle to prioritize giving. Misaligned priorities often lead us to invest in things with no eternal significance.
We learned that everything else falls into place when we put God first in our finances and lives. Committing to sacrificial and cheerful giving is key to living a life that impacts others and glorifies God.
